WHERE CAN I GET YELLOW FEVER VACCINE?

Yellow fever vaccine is special. You cannot get it anywhere like the flu shot. You have to get it at a certified yellow fever vaccine location from a certified provider. After getting the vaccine, you will receive an international vaccination certificate (aka yellow card) to prove you received the vaccine.

Certified yellow fever locations include travel medicine clinics and some pharmacies. Pro tip – pharmacies are the easiest, most convenient place to get it because you are much more likely to live near a pharmacy that has it than a travel clinic.

HOW DO I GET YELLOW FEVER VACCINE?

This is the tricky part for most people. You need to do 3 things to get it:

Get a prescription for it
Find a place that has it
Schedule an appointment to get the vaccine

Wow! That is a lot of money and a big range. We get it but it is not possible to give an exact answer because it depends on if your insurance covers it and where you get it. Many insurance plans do not cover it, unfortunately. To be sure, you can call your insurance provider to find out if they cover it.

If you are paying out-of-pocket or without insurance, be aware that some places are much more affordable than others. If you go to a travel clinic, you are going to pay whatever they charge. But if you have a prescription, you can get it wherever you find the best price.
