Frequently Asked Questions

How soon should I book an appointment before my trip?

As soon as you can. This will ensure there is enough time to complete any recommended vaccination series or to work with your pharmacy and insurance company on getting all your necessary medications. It is never a problem to book too soon. It is only a problem when people book too late.

I am not sure which vaccines I have had in the past. What should I do?

This happens all the time. Keeping track of immunization records is tough. The first thing to try is looking up your record in the state immunization database via MyIR. You can also reach out to former doctor’s offices to see if they still have records. If after all that (and after asking mom) you are still coming up empty handed, don’t worry. Depending on your risk and what we do know about your vaccine history, we can help you decide what you do and do not need during your consultation.

I lost my yellow card and I need proof of yellow fever vaccination for my next trip. What can I do?

You need to contact the place that you received the yellow fever vaccine and the yellow card. Since they can certify they gave it to you, they are the only ones who can replace it. If that is not an option you can either (1) try to get a waiver from a doctor saying that you received it already or (2) you can receive the vaccine again and get a new card. We do not provide the medical waivers are Odyssey Travel Health.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

No, we do not prescribe any controlled substances.

What about infants? My baby is too young for some of the medications and vaccines. What should I do?

There is a lot you can do to protect children too young for vaccines and/or medications. This includes insect repellent blankets and nets, choosing food and water sources carefully and traveling with infant friendly remedies in case something does come up.
